What Makes This Yatra Extraordinary

🏔️ Mount Kailash

One of the most sacred mountains in the world.
People do not climb it out of respect.

14 Days. One Transformational Journey.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not a typical travel experience — it is a high-altitude spiritual expedition that demands both physical and mental readiness.

This 14-day overland route is designed to make the journey more accessible while still respecting the realities of the terrain. Altitudes rise beyond 4500 meters, oxygen levels drop, and conditions become more minimal as you move closer to Kailash.

This itinerary focuses on gradual acclimatization, structured movement, and continuous support — allowing you to undertake the yatra with preparation rather than uncertainty.

The journey begins in Kathmandu, followed by a road journey through the Himalayan region to the Kerung border, where you enter Tibet.

From here, the route moves through high-altitude towns like Saga (4600m), where acclimatization is critical before proceeding further.

You then reach Lake Mansarovar (4590m), where rituals and parikrama are performed. The journey continues to Darchen (4647m), the base point for Mount Kailash.

The Kailash Kora spans three days:

  • Day 1: Trek to Derapuk (north face view)
  • Day 2: Cross Drolma La Pass (~5600m, most challenging)
  • Day 3: Complete the circuit and return

The route is designed to balance travel, rest, and altitude adaptation.

This journey tests you in ways you may not expect.

At higher altitudes, even simple movements require effort. Breathing becomes slower, walking requires pacing, and rest becomes essential. The second day of the Kora, especially at Drolma La Pass, is physically demanding and mentally intense.

At the same time, the environment creates a deep sense of stillness. The silence of Mansarovar, the scale of the landscape, and the presence of Kailash bring a kind of clarity that is difficult to find elsewhere.

It is both challenging and grounding — a journey that pushes you while also centering you.

Accommodation varies significantly throughout the journey.

  • Kathmandu: Comfortable hotel stays
  • Saga/Darchen: Standard hotels (basic but reliable)
  • Kailash region: Simple guesthouses, often dormitory-style

Facilities become limited at higher altitudes — including heating, water access, and room privacy.

Meals are strictly vegetarian and prepared to be simple, warm, and energy-supporting. Packed meals are provided during long travel and trekking days.

Support includes:

  • Experienced guides & team leader
  • Oxygen cylinders for emergency use
  • Support vehicle for logistics
  • Structured itinerary for acclimatization

This ensures that while the journey remains challenging, it is well-managed and supported throughout.
